The Heart Behind Baby-Led Weaning Academy
Why I’m Sharing This on My Birthday
Baby-Led Weaning Academy wasn’t born from perfection — it was born from presence, questions, and a whole lot of heart.
Prefer to listen?
Sometimes, it’s not about the gear, the prep, or even the food.
Sometimes, it’s about the why behind it all.
This episode is different. It’s a personal one.
It’s my birthday, and I wanted to pause the how-tos and open my heart — to share where this work comes from, why it matters so much to me, and what Baby-Led Weaning Academy really stands for.
Baby-Led Weaning Academy was born from a question
It was 3am. I was supporting a new mom during an overnight postpartum shift.
Her baby had just fallen back asleep, and in the quiet, she whispered:
“How do I know what to feed her — when the time comes for real food?”
That moment stuck with me. Not because I didn’t have the answer — but because I knew what she really wanted:
✨ Safety. Support. Reassurance. ✨
She didn’t want a textbook. She wanted someone to walk her through it.
That’s when the seed for Baby-Led Weaning Academy was planted.
This didn’t start as a business — it started in real life
Before this was a podcast, a course, or a curriculum...
It was me — a foster mama figuring out solids with babies who came with unknown histories and big feelings.
It was silly songs over broccoli and trial-and-error with toast.
It was comforting moms in the middle of the night, holding space for their questions, their fears, their tenderness.
I built this not from a marketing strategy — but from:
Texts from moms scared after their baby gagged
Doula clients asking “What if I mess this up?”
My own heart for babies and the people who raise them
This is for the moms who feel like they should already know — and for the ones brave enough to admit they don’t.
Confidence doesn’t come from perfection. It comes from support.
That’s why this podcast exists.
That’s why the course exists.
That’s why I answer DMs and host Study Halls and create content that speaks to real moms in real life.
This is not a place of pressure.
It’s a place of calm, evidence-based guidance — with heart.
I’m not here to show off how perfect I did BLW. I’m here to say: “I’ve been there. Let’s walk through it together.”
My own motherhood story hasn’t been typical
I’ve fostered babies.
I’ve lost a baby.
I’ve spent years as a postpartum doula holding hands through the hardest nights.
And I’ve seen again and again: what moms need most is not more information — it’s emotional support.
Baby-Led Weaning Academy is the space I wish had existed.
A space for:
Feeling seen instead of judged
Getting answers without shame
Celebrating messy wins and real-life progress
If that’s what you’re looking for, you’re in the right place.
